With the amount of money that women spend every year on either a purse or a handbag special care needs to be given to them to maintain and increase their life and shape.

Did you know that there are ways of taking care of your purses or handbags with simple things you have around the house. Here I will give you inexpensive ways to take care of your handbags by cleaning and storing properly to expand the life of your leather and cloth purse? With these helpful hints you can keep them looking new and fresh for years. We all know about the great products on the market to help us preserve and clean our leather handbags, but in a pinch these little hints are great.

When you change your purse stuff it with tissue paper to help keep its shape. If you are putting away your winter handbags for the spring simply stuff them with your winter gloves and folded scarves. This way you won’t need to search or find a place to store these garments as everything will be together for next winter. Also store them in a breathable bag. (Never use plastic bags to store your leather purse or handbags as leather needs to breath and mold and mildew love to form and grow on things where the air can’t reach thus ruining your handbags). When you need to shine your leather purse some people use the inside of a banana peel; “It really works”. Start by lightly rubbing your purse with the inside of a banana peel to clean then just gently buff with a soft cloth. For a stain on your black or brown purse get the right color of marker to match the color of your article then rub in a few drops of olive oil. This method is great on leather. Has your leather become hard and brittle? Try using olive oil to soften it by rubbing some into the leather with a soft dry clean cloth then tissue off the excess surplus.

Now ladies even our cloth purses need maintenance. We need to wipe them down inside and out on a regular basis as bacteria and mold will find their way onto, and into them. This mold will then get on everything you have inside your handbag. These fabric purses should be stored away in a plastic bag (plastic bags are to be used only for fabric handbags to prevent moths from eating the material.) They too need to be stuffed with tissue paper to help keep their shape.

Designer Handbag – Borrow Or Buy the Purse of Your Dreams

So borrowing a designer handbag regardless of the cost just doesn’t feel comfortable. However owning my own designer purse regardless of the cost is the price I am willing to pay for the tastes I have grown accustomed. There’s nothing wrong with bargain hunting and finding the best bag for the best price. There are several places to shop both online and off. When was the last time you went shopping and didn’t find a sale, bargain or clearance event?

Please don’t take my opinion the wrong way. If you don’t mind carrying a purse after a stranger has used it, thats your decision to make not mine. I like knowing the black Prada backpack I need to use when I travel is carefully stored in its sleeper bag in the closet waiting for my next trip. To allow the sharing my Vintage Gucci JackieO with a person I never met is unlikely. The same is true for my prized Hermes Birkin and Kelly bags. Could you imagine anyone else using your favorite purse? I’m so attached to most of my high end designer handbags they’ve become an integral part of my personal insignia.

So, heres my final word of advice to all the designer handbag addicts. Save your money and invest in the bag of your dreams. If next year its no longer something you want to keep around, sell it, and buy another! Theres websites where you can recycle pre-owned authentic designer handbags.

You’ve shelled out the big bucks to get the great designer handbag. If you’ve been shopping smart, you’ve bought a classic looking bag that should stand the test of time. In fact, there isn’t any reason you shouldn’t be able to pass down your handbags to your children, provide they are well cared for.

However, you might be wondering how exactly one goes about caring for high end handbags. Since these are luxury goods, you don’t want to toss them into the washer and hope for the best. Proper care must be taken to give these handbags the longest life-span possible.

The best way to keep your bag clean is basic regular maintenance. When you first get your bag, applying scotch guard will help give the bag a protective coating that will help the bag resist liquids and other spills. Wipe dirt and dust off your bag with a duster. To help your bag keep its shape, stuff it with cloth or bubble wrap to keep it safe in storage. Be sure to cover your bag in storage to prevent dust from sticking to the surface. Overfilling your bag will also cause it to loose shape, so try to keep the load reasonable. If your bag gets wet, air dry it. Never use a blow dryer or anything else to dry a bag.

If you have a leather purse, you’ll want to invest in some good leather treatment equipment. Using a soft brush and leather conditioning cream will help your bag last. Suede bags can be rejuvenated by means of a suede brush. Fabric bags can be kept fresh by running a lint roller over the surface.

If worst comes to worse, it might be worth seeking out a professional handbag cleaner. These professionals can remove tough stains and perform serious repairs if needed. These handbag cleaners can be real lifesaver in the event of some serious handbag damage.

Overall, keeping a handbag maintained isn’t rocket science. Just use common sense, and follow the above tips to help keep your handbag looking as good as the day you bought it.

Leather is the tanned or dressed hide of an animal, usually without the hair or fur. The process of tanning makes the hide flexible and prevents it from decaying. Many products are made out of leather, one of them being purses. Leather purse either are handmade or made at factories using machines. The tanning process has evolved from the ancient process of skinning, which required greater thickness of the flesh off animals.

Modern process uses pelting the hair of animals with the help of lime and then fleshing and cleaning. Fat is used later to ensure pliability. There are various types of leather available in the market. The types are classified depending upon which animal it is obtained from and the finish of the hide. Moroccan leather, which is made out of goatskin, is characterized by grains that are obtained during the rubbing of the leather. Wallets and purses made out of this leather have a unique finish.

Russian leather has a unique scent and is processed with birch leaves for the bright red color. It is treated with vegetable oils to make it flexible. Glazing is another technique used to give the leather a smooth finish. Spanish leather is known to be smooth and colored with dyes. The softness of the leather enables purse makers to make purses of intricate designs.

Artificial leather is originally made from strong fabrics that are coated with synthetic material. The synthetic material that is used is vinyl polymers. These are also commonly used to make purses that are lower in cost. The costs of purses made out of original leather are much higher as the process of tanning and treating skin is expensive. Designer leather purses are exclusively made and each piece has a unique design. Leather purses play an important role in the fashion industry and there are designer stores that have purses of all styles and for all budgets on display.

If you are looking for an accessory that can be kept long term and looks great with many different outfits, a ladies leather purse may be just what you need. There are many different styles and types for you to choose from, and they are very versatile in nature. If you have a good quality one, you can go years without having to worry about it falling apart like some of the cheaper versions may do. Following are some things to think about when choosing a ladies leather purse, and some good ways to figure out what you are looking for.

Ask yourself what style you are looking for. Are you interested in a purse that is great for all occasions? If so, you may want to get a plain black ladies leather purse. You can use them for work, formal wear, casual wear, and anything else you can think of. Getting one of these will eliminate the need to switch purses often and go through the trouble of transferring everything from one to the other. Black matches with everything and adds a sophisticated look to your wardrobe.

If you are looking for a ladies leather purse that is a bit sassy or rockerish, you should try a brown one that has rhinestones or studs on it. You can get them in varying intensity levels, depending on how outrageous and punkish you want to go with it.

The possibilities are pretty much endless. If you just can’t find the one you are looking for, you can try getting one custom made. That way, you can create something with all of your personality and style traits incorporated and you won’t have to worry about getting something you don’t like. The only drawback to doing this is that it will be a lot more expensive than if you were just to go to a regular store. On the other hand, if you are looking for a really good quality product that will last you a long time, it may be well worth the money.

Shoulder Handbags Are Not Just For Xmas!

In the 1930’s during the Art Deco era handbags were already made pretty much the way we know them today They were square or round and made of quilting fabric or leather. In the 1940’s during World War II the shoulder handbag became larger, more square or round and there was a resurgence of the drawstring bag. The purse, or hand bag, had a more military look, a self sufficient look.

As women began to take up careers and began going to work the handbags styles changed to look more businesslike, to where some looked like brief cases. It is interesting to note that bags in Britain were made to accommodate a gas mask and were designed to match a woman’s outfit.

In the post war era of the fifties the big bulky styles were joined in fashion by the small and dainty clutch bag. The designer Christian Dior, emphasized the longer skirt, small waist and small clutch handbags to emphasize femininity and sexuality. This era was followed by the unisex era where again, both men and women could be seen carrying a bag.

Today’s shoulder bag is made in many styles and many fabrics. It can be large or small and made to be elegant for dress wear or casual for daily use.

We have evolved from a point where everyone had to look identical to everyone else, to a point now where we can be individual and show our fashion sense in our own unique way.

There are no strict rules about fashion today, whether it’s clothes, or the handbag – pretty much anything goes. It is still suggested that the contents of women’s (or men’s) shoulder handbags are still a mystery!

Shoulder handbags are not just for Xmas – you should care for them all year round!
