The Benefits of Carrying a Purse

I’ve heard dozens of women complain about the burden of carry pocketbooks. As a man, I have to admit that I often wish it were more socially acceptable for men to carry a similar type of bag. There are certainly times when touting a person around town can be a hassle, but more often than not, you will find yourself turning to your purse several times during the day to locate essential items.

Since carrying a person isn’t a viable option for me, everything that I want to bring has to fit into my pockets. On an average day this will include: keys, phone, wallet, chapstick, gum and a variety of other miscellaneous items. This may not seem like a problem, but constantly having your pockets bulging can be quite uncomfortable. Although I will probably never make the leap, I have often considered checking my ego at the door and picking up a “man bag.”

pocket-bookOctober is one of the most exciting portions of the NFL schedule. The good teams are still separating themselves from the bad ones, and league parity makes every fan feel like their team has a shot at winning. I’ve been a lifelong San Francisco 49ers fan, and my Niners started off the season 2-0 before falling in a close matchup with the Vikings. I’m so wrapped up in the season that I’ve been purchasing team merchandise left and right.

Because she’s so gracious about putting up with my football-watching habit every Sunday, I bought my wife a luxurious new purse as well as an NFL pocketbook as a gag gift. Much to my surprise, she was pleased with the 49ers bag’s design and actually takes it with her to work and the store on occasion. If my team makes it to the Super Bowl I can only assume that the bag is a good luck charm.
